Beside You Foundation
Beside You Foundation seek to maintain & strengthen Indigenous family connections, providing culturally appropriate support for parents to either keep children in their care or reunify them safely together at home, offering a collaborative, holistic approach and clear pathway forward for clients while navigating the often complex WA legal system.
Kristy McDowell, Foundation Director of Beside You Foundation, has devoted her career to supporting vulnerable parents in various settings across both Child Protection and the Perth Children’s Court. Kristy’s commitment, compassion, and humanity are at the heart of Beside You Foundation’s vision for an empowered, safe and educated community with knowledge and resources readily available to all members.
Through a multi-disciplinary approach, the Beside You Foundation provides next steps and solutions whilst empowering Aboriginal families to be accountable for their own decisions and actions, recognising their need for self determination and ensuring their cultural perspectives are included whilst strengthening family relationships.

The inspiration behind the Beside You Foundation logo is based on the rich kinship of first nation families, maintaining strong family and cultural connections whilst being guided with a holistic approach to their health and wellbeing.
The circles in the logo are the meeting place and coming together of all First Nations family members encompassing the weak, the emerging and the strong. Elders, parents and support people of the community sit together and talk through the best way to support the parents, children and babies. Collectively, the group can make inclusive decisions to empower, encourage positive action and support the parents to raise their children with knowledge.
